Information...
Drop off times are usually 5-10 minutes before the start of the course.e.g from 8.50am for a 9am course

Collection time, we ask that parents arrive 5-10 minutes before the end of the course. e.g. arrive 2.50pm for 3pm finish.
( If you are running late please telephone 07712 589 663).
REMEMBER YOUR BIKE & HELMET !!

Children will need to be signed in to the course and an emergency number left. Please make it clear to your coach who is collecting your child if you are unable to BEFORE you leave your child.

Pricing information...
Our pricing is aimed to be as inclusive as possible and where possible is given on a per person basis.

Courses usually run from 9.00am until 3.00pm or 9am to 12pm to fit in with the traditional school / working day. There are mini breaks in the morning and afternoon and a lunchbreak.
Children will need to bring with them their food and drink for the time they are at the course.

For example, if your child is attending a course they will need to bring a morning snack and drink, lunch and drink and afternoon snack and drink for whole day courses. Bring enough food for the day in a backpack or other similar sturdy storgage bag rather than plastic or carrier bags.

We recommend bringing snacks that provide slow release energy such as fruit bars or cereal bars and ideally water or squash. Please contact us if you need more information

Could you be the next Mark Cavendish or Nicole Cook? Every Olympic athlete starts somewhere and where better than cycle coaching with a qualified British Cycling coach at a cycle-coaching.com course?

The info here should help you deal with any nervous feelings you may have and you never know you might even start to feel a little bit excited about the prospect of coming on one of the courses! It's important to know what to expect when you're starting something new.

How do I get there?
Unless the course is close enough that you can cycle there, most people bring their bike in a car or on a car rack. Obviously we'd prefer people to ride but don't forget you'll be riding all day and THEN have to ride home!

What time do I arrive?
Ask your parents to arrange to get you there 10 minutes before the course is due to start.

How is the session structured?
Every session starts with a bike and safety check, an off bike warm up and a on bike warm up. (These are usually games or fun activities)
The main sessions have a starter that introduces the coaching points that you'll learn in that activity, then a series of activities, competitions or games.
Every session ends with a warm down.

What will I do?
You'll learn all the techniques that go to make up the skills needed to ride the whole range of cycling disciplines. Techniques used in BMX (accelerating, cornering and braking), MTB-ing (downhill braking, limbo under branches, balancing), road racing (pace lines, following a wheel), track (slingshotting, cornering at speed) and many many more.
All the skills you learn are transferrable so you'll be able to use them for everyday cycling.

Will it be too hard for me?
You'll probably think some of the activities will be too hard. BUT, most people usually find at least one thing in a session challenging. The way the sessions are structured allows you to practice with others first to learn the techniques to master the skill when you're ready. If you need help, don't worry - that's what the coach is for!

Do I need a helmet?
Absolutely. Yes. Some training courses will let you choose but on the courses we run we're serious about cycling and serious about safety. If you haven't got a helmet you can't ride.

What clothing should I wear or bring with me?
Bring clothing suitable for the (changeable!!) weather conditions in the UK. Look at the forecast for the day and come prepared.
Usually it's good advice to wear casual clothing that allows you a good range of movement (sports clothing is quite suitable) but not too baggy that it'll snag in a chain or wheel. If it's hot dress cool if it's cool dress warm.

Where can I buy a helmet?
Leisure Lakes in Pittville Street, Cheltenham will give you good fitting advice. Every Cycle-coaching.com session teaches how to fit and wear a helmet and helmet inspection as part of the bike and safety check.

What will I learn?
Too much to mention here! There are hundreds of different activities and you'll learn loads and enjoy it as well.
You'll also learn some things that aren't taught, like working with others and leadership skills. You'll also learn a lot about yourself and how you deal with challenge and what it feels like to succeed and what winning feels like.
Come along and find out.

What do I do if I don't think I can do an activity?
Speak with the coach, no one will ever force you to do anything you don't feel you can do. Get some more practice in and have a go when you're ready.

When do my parents have to pick me up?
Ask them to arrive about 10-15 minutes before the end so they can watch the warm down and get you into the car before you get too cold!

What if I need to leave early?
Make sure your parents have left a contact number and the coach will phone to arrange for you to be collected.

Please contact us if there's anything else you want to know that isn't already here!!
